2021 Champion of Champions tournament cancelled

September 3rd, 2021

Northern NSW Football is disappointed to announce that the 2021 Champion of Champions tournament has been cancelled.

The decision was made due to the ongoing uncertainty regarding lockdowns across regional NSW brought on by COVID-19 outbreaks.

The 2021 Champion of Champions tournament was scheduled to be held at the C.ex International Stadium and Coffs Coast Sport & Leisure Park, Coffs Harbour from 27 September until 3 October.

Northern NSW Football General Manager Football Operations Liam Bentley said it was with great regret that, like last season, the Champion of Champions tournament had been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We didn’t really have much other choice given the uncertainty in planning travel and accommodation for many teams,” Bentley said.

“Four of our seven Member Zones have already concluded their seasons. So we’ve made the call now to avoid clubs having to continually wait and see whether or not the competition might go ahead.

“Obviously it’s disappointing. Champion of Champions is a great tournament that we really enjoy being involved in and players and clubs love taking part in.

“We look forward to bringing back Champion of Champions even bigger and better in 2022.”

The Champion of Champions tournament features the best youth teams from NNSWF’s seven Member Zones. The top boys and girls teams from 12 to 16-years-old are invited to compete for the Champion of Champions title.
