Northern Inland is one of seven Member Zones within the State boundaries of Northern NSW Football (NNSWF).

The Northern Inland zone is geographically, the largest zone in Northern NSW Football, covering an area from Quirindi in the south, up to Tenterfield in the north and west to Coonabarabran, Moree and Lightning Ridge.

The Northern Inland zone was formed in 2005 with the amalgamation of the North West Soccer Association and the New England Soccer Association. In 2021, Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) became responsible for the administration, growth, development and promotion of the game throughout the Northern Inland region following the final meeting of Northern Inland Football (NIF) Incorporated.

Northern Inland has a strong membership that includes some 19 clubs or associations and a player base of approximately 4,400 registered players across the region.

MiniRoos and junior competitions are conducted across the region in towns such as Quirindi, Tamworth, Gunnedah, Moree, Wee Waa, Coonabarabran, Narrabri, Inverell, Glen Innes, Tenterfield and Armidale. Senior teams compete in the Northern Inland Premier Division, Namoi League and local Tamworth competition.
