Holt, Urdarov made life members at 2020 AGM

June 4th, 2021

Phil Holt and Larry Urdarov were inducted as life members at Northern NSW Football’s 2020 Annual General Meeting late last month.

Northern NSW Football Limited’s 2020 AGM, held on 23 May 2021, concluded a challenging year for the governing body and football throughout northern NSW.

Members assembled at the Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility and by Zoom to formalise the election of directors and approve the Annual Finance Accounts.

Deputy chairman Mr Bill Moncrieff was re-elected, while Mrs Sarah Gray transitioned from an appointed to elected director. Mr Mark Trenter was elected to the remaining vacant position.

Chair Helene O’Neill congratulated Mr Moncrieff, Mrs Gray and Mr Trenter on their election and looked forward to their contribution to the company and sport throughout their four-year terms.

Mrs O’Neill also acknowledged the significant contribution of outgoing director Terry Psarakis who guided the organisation through financial turmoil in 2020.

The Annual Finance Accounts for year ending 31 December 2020 reported total revenue declined by 43 per cent compared to the previous year. This included fee concessions of $600,000 afforded to clubs in recognition of lost sponsorship and fundraising activities.

Expenditure was reduced by $2.4 million to ensure the sport’s financial stability. Judicious financial management and government stimulus enabled NNSWF to maintain cash reserves of $5.3 million heading into 2021.

One of the highlights of the AGM was members admitting Mr Holt and Mr Urdarov as life members of NNSWF.

“On behalf of the football community, I congratulate Phil and Larry on their life membership,” Mrs O’Neill said.

“Phil and Larry have served our game diligently and made significant contributions in a voluntary capacity at club, zone and member federation levels.

“My appreciation is also extended to North Coast Football and Newcastle Football for nominating Phil and Larry.”

The NNSWF Board of Directors met immediately after the AGM. Mrs O’Neill and Mr Moncrieff were reappointed unopposed as chair and deputy chair for a further two years.

The NNSWF Peak Steering Committee, chaired by the deputy chairman, convened after the board meeting to discuss the cost of football and to clarify the respective roles and responsibilities of the various administrative tiers.
