Northern Inland Football celebrates Females in Football during rebel Female Football Week: 21 June – 30 June

June 21st, 2019

Today, Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) and Northern Inland Football officially launch rebel Female Football Week (FFW) across the region.

Running from today, Friday 21 June 2019 through to Sunday 30 June 2019, the national initiative celebrates the immense growth of the women’s game and acknowledges existing players, coaches, referees and administrators in football who have contributed to this growth.

Across the week, NNSWF, Member Zones and Member Clubs will offer a variety of festivities to mark the occasion.

NNSWF Head of Football, Pete Haynes is excited to see the week unfold.

“Interest in women and girls’ football within Northern NSW has grown by 4.66% from 2017 and 2018 and is highlighted the support being provided by the football community across the week”, said Haynes.

“Clubs across Northern NSW are hosting a variety of events to celebrate from gala day’s for girls and boys, networking events, club BBQ’s, coaching certificates, referee training and much more.

“I encourage everyone to get involved!” said Haynes.

NNSWF is hosting a Networking Evening on Friday 28 June featuring guest speakers:

  • Renee Valentine, Sports Reporter, Newcastle Herald who will address Women’s sport in the media;
  • Deb Hescott, Services Coordinator TAFE NSW who will discuss how to be an active Community Member, and
  • Laura Boyle Membership Officer Volunteering Surf Life Saving NSW who will speak of for the importance of mental health awareness in sporting organisations.

Whilst the evening is skewed towards football club administrators, committees, coaches, players and supporters of football, Northern NSW Football invites the wider community and sporting organisations to attend and meet like-minded community members.
