Northern NSW Football Announces ‘New Referees Starter Pack’ to recruit more referees

February 28th, 2019

Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) has launched a heavily subsidised ‘New Referee Starter Pack’ to encourage more young players and volunteers to become referees.

NNSWF has identified that the costs associated with becoming a referee for the first time are a huge barrier for potential referees, particularly young referees. Thanks to the support of Umbro, Football Federation Australia and the local Member Zones, NNSWF has launched an all-inclusive, heavily subsidised starter package for first-time referees.

NNSWF CEO David Eland said, “The game’s participation, particularly among females continues to boom and it is vital that we have enough referees to officiate the ever-increasing number of competitive fixtures.”

“The New Referee Starter Pack significantly reduces the costs associated with becoming a referee for the first time. NNSWF is confident that the initiative will encourage more young players to have a crack at being a match official,” Mr Eland continued.

“NNSWF has bundled accreditation, registration, uniform and accessories into the all-inclusive New Referee Starter Pack for the heavily subsidised cost of just $100. It’s now much cheaper for aspiring match officials to get on the park and start earning pocket money.”

Each New Referee Starter Pack includes:
> Enrolment in Level 4 Referee Course
> Laws of the Game Book
> Referee Whistle
> Assistant Referee Flag
> Umbro Match Official Shirt (Black)
> Umbro Match Official Shorts
> Umbro Socks
> Set of Red and Yellow Cards
> Match Record Book
> NNSWF Match Official Registration Fee for the first season
> Member Zone Match Official Registration Fee for the first season.

“If you’re still studying at school, there’s never been a better time to come on board as a match official – with this significant saving and the Active Kids Voucher, you can potentially get started and make money for nothing,” Mr Eland concluded.
