Northern NSW Football announces Newcastle Permanent Volunteer of the Year

October 29th, 2020

Northern NSW Football, is this week, pleased to announce its annual Newcastle Permanent Community Recognition Award winners for 2020 and has announced South Cardiff JFC’s Max McCorkell as the Newcastle Permanent Volunteer of the Year across the entire region.

The awards mark the culmination of the 2020 community football season recognising, celebrating and honouring those who may not play the game but provide immeasurable contributions to football across northern NSW.

The awards, which gained support from major community football partner Newcastle Permanent in 2015, are presented to winners from across NNSWF’s seven member zones throughout the year and culminate with regional winners in across four categories: Club of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Community Coach of the Year and Referee of the Year.

Northern NSW Football’s Head of Football Development Peter Haynes said the dedication of volunteers throughout the sport never ceased to impress him.

“The sport has had a challenging year like every aspect of our lives. However, Max is as dedicated a volunteer as you will find. He has done so much hard work to help improve South Cardiff JFC for its players and their families. From attaining grants for the club, rallying volunteers or getting stuck in and doing the work himself, Max is a prime example of someone selflessly dedicating themselves to their club and their community.

“Northern NSW Football congratulates Max on being named the Northern NSW Football Newcastle Permanent Volunteer of the Year for 2020.”
