Tamworth & Armidale to host new ALDI MiniRoos Kick-off for Girls Centres

October 10th, 2018

Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) has launched twelve ALDI MiniRoos Kick-Off For Girls centres throughout Northern NSW to continue the already significant increase in growth in female participation and secure the next generation of female players.

ALDI MiniRoos Kick-Off for Girls is an introductory program for all with numerous centres across Northern NSW including Tamworth and Armidale.

NNSWF Female Participation Officer Holly Ayton says the ALDI MiniRoos Kick-Off for Girls is a great opportunity for girls who haven’t participated in the sport before to try football in a safe and inviting environment.

“All of our coaches have been specifically trained to deliver this program and are as passionate as we are about providing a welcoming, fun game-based learning environment.”

ALDI MiniRoos Kick-Off for Girls has been developed in line with the game-sense philosophy of sports participation. This approach to sports delivery emphasises a move away from traditional coach dominated sessions to those that are player-centred, using game-like situations and the imagination for play rather than technical drills.

Each ALDI MiniRoos Kick-Off for Girls session runs for 45-minutes a week, for a duration of 8 weeks during School Term 4.  Each session consists of a 30-minute fun game based skill session and a 15-minute game. The program is split into two stages with a session plan for girls aged 4-7 and one for girls aged 8-9.

The benefits of ALDI MiniRoos Kick Off for Girls include;

> Fun, football game-based sessions that build fundamental motor skills

> Non-competitive activities to improve confidence and self-esteem

> Low participant-to-coach ratio resulting in greater individual engagement

> Experience the football basics

> Merchandise packs for new participants, including boot bag, shinpads, ball and more.
