Do you want to become a referee? The NNSWF Referee Starter Pack is BACK for 2021!

November 18th, 2020

After the success of its 2019 and 2020 programs, Northern NSW Football has committed to encouraging more young and experienced players as well as volunteers to become Match Officials by offering the $140 ‘on-the-pitch’ pack.

The starter pack was introduced after NNSWF identified cost as a major barrier for potential referees and collaborated with its seven Member Zones to support the all-inclusive and heavily subsidised starter package for first-time referees.

NNSWF have seen a significant increase in referee numbers since 2018, with the starter packs considered a key contributing factor.

While there were only 140 first year referees in 2018, 320 signed up last season and a further 200 this year despite the difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

NNSWF CEO David Eland was delighted to continue the starter pack for 2021 and confident it would continue to encourage more of the football community to become a match official.

“With football being Australia’s number one participation sport, it is vital for us to have enough match officials on the park to officiate the ever-increasing fixtures,” Eland said.

“The referee starter pack is perfect for those who want to give back to football.

“There’s never been a better time to come on board as a match official. With this significant saving and the experience you can gain, you will benefit financially and increase your employability through the skills you learn.”

Each $140* Referee Starter Pack includes:
